Mr. Poss joined the firm in 1995 and became a Member in 2001. He concentrates his practice upon insurance defense, employment litigation, and malpractice defense.   Mr. Poss has represented a diverse range of clients from individuals and local businesses to Fortune 500 companies.  In addition to litigating cases in State and Federal Courts in Tennessee, Mr. Poss also represents clients in administrative hearings and provides counsel on contract formation, contract negotiations, general business and risk management issues.   Additionally, Mr. Poss has represented clients in cases involving tax liens and sales as well as matters involving debt collection through litigated and non-litigated means.  Mr. Poss has also briefed and argued cases in the Tennessee Court of Appeals and the Tennessee Supreme Court.

Before attending law school Mr. Poss worked as a Claims Adjuster with GAB Business Services, Inc., where he was responsible for the disposition of commercial automobile, property, and general liability claims. He is the co-author of "The ABC's of EMG", published in the Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel Quarterly (46:37, 1995). 

Born in Chattanooga, Mr. Poss attended Indiana University, where he graduated with a B.A. (with honors) in Communications/ Business. For his law degree he attended the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law on a Cecil C. Humphreys Fellowship Award, and graduated with high honors. While in law school he served as a staff member on the University of Memphis Law Review and was a Mock Trial Competition Finalist (1995). He received American Jurisprudence Awards (Civil Procedure II, Contracts I and II, and Secured Transactions), the Corpus Juris Secundum Award (Contracts), and Dean's Awards (Excellence in Civil Procedure III, Corporate Tax, Insurance Law, Franchising Law, and Professional Responsibility). 

He is a member of the Chattanooga and Tennessee Bar Associations, the Defense Research Institute and the Propane Gas Defense Association. He is a also member of and former Secretary for the Professional Liability Defense Federation and is a member and former Board Member of the TBA Torts and Insurance Practice Section. He is also a member of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM). Mr. Poss also serves on the Town of Signal Mountain Planning Commission and was appointed as the Administrative Hearing Officer for the Town of Signal Mountain in 2014.  He also coaches the Signal Mountain High School Mock Trial Team.
